Our Week in the Forest

Little Forest Folk Wimbledon has come alive with music this week!

Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been creating their own verses to songs besides making their own microphones and musical shakers to go along with their tunes. Using recycled toilet rolls, the children added rice to the inside and tape to the edges to create their instruments. They then used more toilet rolls, added a ball of tin foil to the top and decorated them to make microphones. It was great to hear our little musicians singing and making tunes throughout their day!

We have also been doing lots of tool work this week, creating a new busy board for the forest. The children took it in turns to screw door handles and locks onto a pallet, testing their fine motor skills along the way. They worked with the educators to tighten the screws so the pieces could then be used to play with. It was a great way for the children to gain pride from something they made as they all enjoyed playing with the finished creation with their friends.

As well as all of this we have also done some salt painting, made Milky Way oobleck and taken part in musical adventure walks! Such a fun and busy week in the forest!
